With 2020 forcing us all into quarantine, and working from home becoming more and more of a reality, it was time to create an inspiring office space for both my daughter and I to share.
My daughter, Shayna is headed to college this Fall and I’m working from home 5 days a week. We decided to put our creative minds together and create an office space we could share. Her room has a little dormer nook that we knew would make the coziest spot for a home office space. We had so much fun designing this space and hope that it will be an inspiration for your home office.
Before I get started, here is a before image of the space and click here for a link to the previous room refresh. It was a cozy nook with her bed all tucked in there just perfectly.
Stage One
This project was done in stages over about 5 months. Some items were out of stock and life is just super busy. We took our time and enjoyed the process.
Our first step was paint. Shayna’s room is painted cloud white by Benjamin Moore and we decided that this little nook needed a pop of colour. We decided to paint the home office nook a fun green colour and after looking through our Pinterest boards and polling my audience on Instagram we decided on Clary Sage by Sherwin Williams.
Clary Sage is a fresh and calming green that we knew would both keep our minds feeling inspired to work but also relaxed.
Next, we added a new rug from Loloi. We love Loloi rugs and the Ivory/Multi from the Claire collection was the perfect accent to this space!
From there, we added a picture ledge with some framed prints from Opposite Wall. Opposite wall is a great source for frames and prints and we went with all white frames and some neutral prints for this space.
Ikea was our one stop shop for the remaining items. Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE a good Ikea find. I had been eyeing the Alex desk for quite some time but every time I went to order it was out of stock. I also kept seeing the Odger swivel chair when searching for inspo for this home office nook. The finishing touch on this space was the Knixhult pendant. I love the boho vibes it brings to the space and the price point was so good!
We LOVE how this little home office nook turned out! Working and studying from home will be such a joy!
