One of my favourite new Christmas traditions is turning the tree area into a cozy space for snuggles and our favourite Christmas books. I had never considered this until last year when Mila naturally one day sat under the tree with a book. It was then that I realized that it was the perfect place to add a few blankets, pillows and a basket of books.
After all, Christmas is about making memories, sharing moments, and cozy days and nights at home. I love intentionally creating spaces in our home that encourage this.
We also have a big basket of books beside Mila’s bed because every day ends with story time. Daddy usually does this part because he has way more patience by this time of day.
Our Favourite Christmas Books
We have started a collection of favourite Christmas books that we store away all year and bring out just for the Christmas season. This makes them fresh and exciting and “special”. An assortment of board books, touch and feel, nativity themed, winter themed and more. Here are a few of our favourites:
Nativity themed
Usborne Touchy – Feely “The Nativity” | Room for a Little One | The Giving Manger |
Any books with sensory options like the Usborne Touchy – Feely ones are a big hit right now. Room for a Little One is a sweet little board book that is an easy read with beautiful pictures.
Then, The Giving Manger is actually a really sweet little tradition that we started last year. When you buy this little set it comes with the book, a little wooden manger, straw and the cutest little baby Jesus figurine. Click here to learn more about this fantastic Family tradition.
Winter/Seasonal Themed
What I Love about Christmas | Reindeer’s nosy Christmas | Bear’s very snowy day |
What I Love about Christmas has some really fun pull tabs and peek-a-boo lift tabs that are a bit hit. Bears very snowy day is a cute little winter story filled with sweet little pictures and easy to read captions. We love Reindeers nosy Christmas because its filled with glitter and fun touchy/feely pages.
A few more Favourites
Itsy Bitsy Christmas | A Porcupine in a Pine Tree | Twas the night before Christmas |
Itsy Bitsy Christmas is brand new for us and its a favourite already! I love anything written by Max Lucado so I’m not surprised this one is as popular as it is! A Porcupine in a Pine Tree is a hilarious rendition of the popular Christmas tune (12 days of Christmas). You can’t help but “sing” this book. Off course “Twas the Night before Christmas” is a true classic and this mini board book version is the perfect size for bedtime stories.
We LOVE adding to our book collection so please share some of your all time favourite Christmas books so we don’t miss out on more cozy reading moments this season.
Until Next Time,
