Fall is by far my favourite season.
Crisp mornings, sunny days and then cozy evenings when the sun goes down. There’s something about Fall that sparks every one of my senses. It’s the smell of baking, the crunchy leaves under my feet, the sound of the wind through the trees, and all these together bringing me to a place of nostalgia that is hard to explain yet to say it’s soothing and comfortable.

Fall is new beginnings, fresh bursts of inspiration and oh do I LOVE me some good fall routine! My goal with Fall decorating is all about bringing in warmth and coziness so we can hunker down at home. In general, Fall decorations have become such a popular cliche and it’s easy to find cute signs, tableware, mugs, blankets and more that scream that “happy fall y’all” theme. Pumpkin is everywhere from food to drinks and everything in between. I prefer to bring Fall into our home in a more subtle way. In our home you won’t find much of the cliche Fall decor as much as you’ll find simple elements that tell you we’ve moved from the fresh sunny days of summer and into the cozy, more moody days of Fall.
Here are a few ways that I transform our space into a cozy Fall haven.
Texture
Simple elements bring substance to your space and can really set the tone and give off the vibe you’re wanting people to feel as they walk in. As I mentioned before, I don’t want my house to scream “Happy Fall Ya’ll”. I just want it to feel cozy, comfortable, and by adding intentional pieces of texture, I’m subtly inviting you into my space.
Baskets
Baskets are so multifunctional. Use them to host some pillows or blankets, kindling for the fire, magazines, or even toys.
Pillows
One of the easiest ways to bring a new season to life in your home. For Fall I’m all about warmer tones, soft fabrics, replacing linens for something a bit softer and cozier
Blankets
Like pillows, I change out my blankets and bring in the wool, sherpa, cable knit and more.
Add Natural Elements
This is a simple and inexpensive way to bring the beauty of Fall into your home. A simple bouquet of Fall flowers in a vase, some unique pumpkins in strategic places around the house, gourds, twigs or branches, be creative, pay attention to what you see out in nature and bring the outside in.
Shelves and Tables
Bring fresh life to a shelfie, or add some Fall warmth to your entry table. A few ways I love to give subtle hints of Fall to these spaces are with the following:
Letterboard
Find a seasonal quote that speaks to you, brings life, adds joy, or simply inspires you. This idea is fun because you don’t have to choose just one! Switch it up weekly as the season progresses:)
Printables
Etsy has a ton of options for seasonal printables. Find a few you love, print them off, grab a new frame and voila, you’ve added another element of inspiration to you space
Candles
Fall is the season that I crave the warmth that a candle can bring to a space. The warm glow of a candle mixed with a cozy cup of tea is what Fall is made of!

Linens and More
One of my creative passions is designing a table scape. Click here to see my Fall table design for 2019. Its amazing what some fresh napkins, tea towels, and even a new kitchen mat can do to a space.

Freshen your outdoor spaces
Your entrance is the where you set the tone for what your family and friends will receive once they walk through the door. Let you front door be a reflection of the story your trying to tell. Here are some easy way to bring that cozy fall vibe to your exterior entry.
Potted Mums
I always pick up a variety of sizes and try to choose colours that compliment each other.
Door mats
Another easy way to freshen up your exterior curb appeal. I’m still on the layered doormat kick and my Spring mats were still looking good so I’m carrying them through to this season.
Sitting Areas
Our Fall weather tends to be pretty beautiful. Yes we have crisp mornings and cool evenings but with a few blankets, I love sitting outside on a Fall evening or late afternoon. Make a space for this to happen.
